Short Movie : Un Temps Pour Elle

There are a few short unforgetable (such as Migrations which I presented in a previous entry) . "Un temps pour elle", by Erwin Charrier is one of them. Erwin graduated from Supinfocom two years before me , so I had the chance to meet him and see how he created this wonderfull short
At that time I considered this movie photorealistic and I think it's still a really nice piece lighting wise. Remember that Pixar at that time had released Toy story recently and it wasn't as credible on a rendering level.
I recall the meticulous work Erwin did on the ligthing, simulating global illumination and bounce lighting with omni and spots using shadow maps. This was really striking to see simple tools pushed so far in order to achieve such a great look
I need to mention that Erwin did this movie within one year (from the first synopsis to the final product) and he was alone
For the little story, I kissed my wife for the first time on a full solar eclipse day ( back in 1999), so seeing the short today brings back that memory as well
Director : Erwin Charrier
Production : Supinfocom

I remember seeing this film and being amazed by it as well, its still a great idea and really beautifully designed so it hasn't really dated at all. Do you know what Erwin Charrier is up to now?
@shaun
last time I got some news about him, He was working for Mac Guff Ligne in Paris
nice work on your website btw
Hi Zeb,
Tried to send to your contact page, but it didn't work for some reason.
Thanks for the response to my question on your blog about Un Temps Pour Elle, its great to hear that he is still in Paris, I hear a lot of animators have to leave France because there isn't as much work as there is talent. (There is a lot of talent)
Really like your blog, and think your work is brilliant. I'm studying at animation mentor at the moment to try and learn animation better from the beginning and hopefully make some short films when possible, and maybe even get some work as an animator. Basically reading blogs like yours are a great inspiration and help take away a bit of the mystery behind the process of animation.
Cheers
Shaun
